Commitment

Senior Management has ultimate responsibility for occupational health and safety performance and the achievement of occupational health and safety excellence.

  • Conduct business in a safe manner in line with the Target Zero initiative to eliminate hazards and reduce risks.
  • Maintain strong leadership where safe behaviours are encouraged and recognised.
  • Promote a culture where all workers share responsibility for occupational health and safety.
  • Create an environment where workers are empowered to stop unsafe work activities.
  • Ensure consultation and participation of workers to achieve desired safety outcomes.
  • Continually improve health and safety performance and management systems.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and relevant standards.
  • Ensure transparency in reporting health and safety performance.
  • Set measurable objectives and targets supported by auditing and monitoring.

  • Ensure emergency response procedures are in place and regularly tested.
  • Include health and safety performance in employee appraisals.
  • Engage workers, clients, contractors, and suppliers for continual improvement.

Responsibility and Implementation

Prevention of harm to workers is a line responsibility that begins with Senior Management and flows through line management to frontline workers.

Every leader is accountable for proactively managing occupational health and safety risks within their teams. Every worker is responsible for understanding the risks in their work area and actively contributing to risk reduction. All workers are encouraged and empowered to raise safety concerns at any time.
